For A Change…

…more pictures of my dogs. But Jim took most of these, so there’s that!

There was snow (in Buffalo?). Rakki had to examine it very carefully:

Snow Dogs

It snowed on my birthday celebration weekend (woo! Snow! Living with proper weather again!). Jennifer was here with the setters. Crazy runarounds (and therefore pictures) ensued!

The Irish setters invaded again, and I have yet more crazy dog lady pictures to show for it.

Irish Setter Invasion II: Attack of the Nina

Saturday, August 18th, 2007

The Irish Setters invaded again last weekend. Cillian was horrified by Nina, he’d play with her and then suddenly realize that she was small…then he’d react like a person with a leech or an Asian Giant Hornet on them (“is it on me?! IS IT ON ME??!! GET IT OFF ME!!!!”).

Sully, Cillian and Nina (hopefully you’ll know which is which):

Shuffling Complete

Friday, July 13th, 2007

We have now officially shuffled off to Buffalo (well, Amherst to be exact…Snyder to be super-mega-exact). We arrived last Thursday after leaving Texas on Tuesday afternoon and driving all day Wednesday. There were some issues with getting into the house (we’re not closing until next Wednesday, so we’re technically tenants now, insurance hijinks ensued), but we got here with our two carsful of stuff, bought a futon so we’d have something to sleep on other than the floor and plonked ourselves down!

Our stuff arrived Wednesday, the little men came to unload it all for us yesterday, and now we are surrounded by boxes…but at least we slept in our own bed last night.  We haven’t decorated yet, but we have little paint chips all over the place (as my dad says, if we get enough of them we can just glue them to the walls and no need to paint).

Crazy house lady…but things are moving along, we should have the inspection done by next Tuesday, then we can try to decide what to discuss…

Meanwhile, more pictures inside of the upstairs bedrooms:

Back in TX after a week in Buffalo looking for a house. And we found one! Waiting for the final paperwork, but it looks like we bought a house (pending inspection and all that other stuff which I knew nothing about a week ago, and about which I now know almost nothing). It’s a four bedroom, two and a half bathroom Colonial with a big yard (can you tell I’ve been reading a lot of real estate listings?) in Snyder (which is an area of Amherst). The neighbourhood is nice – feels city-ish while still being villagey. Very walky. There’s a whole bedroom suite downstairs, plus three bedrooms and a full bath upstairs. We have bathrooms to spare baby!

Shuffle Off To Buffalo

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Well, it’s official (as of a few weeks ago, mind you, I’m obviously not yet up on this whole “regular blog updates” idea). We’re moving to Buffalo, NY!

Now the fun of looking for, and buying, our first house begins. Made all the more exciting by virtue of the fact that we’re roughly 1500 miles away from Buffalo, which means we’ll likely have to rely on the internet and a realtor to find what we should look at, and then schlep up there to do a whirlwind tour of possible houses. Still, it’s exciting. But the whole packing up our whole life and moving thing is a bit daunting, even if it does mean finally getting the hell out of Texas.

Buffalo Niagara Homes is an awesome site! Seems like charming old Victorian houses at insanely low (especially by Toronto standards) prices are all over the place.
