Tish got her first-ever double Q today! She earned her first leg in Novice Standard and first leg in Open Jumpers With Weaves! I stupidly didn’t ask anyone to record our JWW run (in which she did her first-ever 12 weave poles at a trial!), but here is our Standard run:
And BIG congratulations to Tish’s sister Demi on finishing her Open Jumpers title!
Tish has officially finished CPE Level 2 as of today. She went 4 for 4 today at All Dawgs, earning her CL2-R (Standard) and CL2-H (Handler Games) titles. She ran really, really well, AND got her first level 4 Jackpot Q with a score of 62! Yay Tish!
I realize that I updated the world with my big news via Facebook, but some of you don’t do the Facebook thing. This past weekend in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Nina not only finished her Open Agility title to get all the way into Excellent, she earned her first Time to Beat Q (and was the fastest dog in her class, which meant she set the time to beat and earned 10 points), AND her first Excellent Jumpers leg (on the same day as her Open title, so technically a double Q of sorts, the first time she has EVER done that). And THEN Tish earned her very first AKC title with her Novice Jumpers Q on Saturday. Nina missed her second Jumpers Q on Saturday when I forgot to support the weaves properly, the rest of her course was perfect. So much fun, and so awesome to see things finally coming together!
Tish not only fulfilled my personal Q goal for her of doing the teeter at a trial (she did it twice!), she went FIVE FOR FIVE today. And Nina got a standard Q, now she just needs 12 more for her C-ATCH…
Nina Colors (NQ thanks to the off course):
Nina Wildcard (NQ thanks to the dropped bar on one of the wildcard obstacles):
In addition to Nina finishing her Open Jumpers title (we’re still sitting on 2 legs in Standard, SOOO CLOSE both times this weekend), Tish ran a great Jumpers course yesterday (no q) and earned her second Jumpers leg today with a lovely q – she drove ahead of me and ran her lines like a Nina! No video of today’s Tish Q unfortunately.

Tomorrow they are off to start their new lives. Lobo to Walla Walla WA, Cricket to Burlington Ontario, Colby is staying here in town with his half brother Riley, Ollie is going to Delaware and Zhora is staying right here.
…progesterone, I mean. No worries on that front, she was 11 ng/mL yesterday, which is more than high enough. Dr. Hutchison emailed and said to do a spot check middle of next week, but at this point it looks like I am just a nervous Nellie!
Tomorrow Nina will get some delicious Pyrantel dewormer (it’s sweet, they usually love it)…because her official due date is just TWO WEEKS from tomorrow! It’s a good idea to deworm a preggo two weeks out to minimize any parasite load on the puppies – worms have ways to hide from dewormers (called “encysting”…gross), and even moms who have proper heartworm prevention year-round (most heartworm preventatives also kill at least some intestinal parasites), like Nina, can still sometimes pass those nasty Ninja-like worms along to their puppies.
The pet pads from ODC are in the wash (they are recycled and sanitized human hospital incontinence pads, plus the company that sells them employs adults with disabilities, so good for the environment, and more generally good) to freshen them up. Jim has cut the wood for the Kate Original whelping box (we needed a replacement for the slide-out panel), and it can be two different heights now, lower for when the puppies are small (and Nina has a lot of undercarriage), higher for when the puppies are bigger. It just needs sanding and treating with butcher block finish (food safe). This weekend I am cramming in one day of AKC agility at Double Q with Tish tomorrow, and Sunday in Toronto to see my mum and sister, because I don’t want to go too far away after this weekend…getting too close to deliverin’ time!
They all shared a giant sweet potato mixed into their dinners today. They LOVED it. Nina will get some extras like scrambled eggs, too. She is very happy and very large.
Nina is becoming steadily more torpedo shaped. She weighs 23.1 pounds today (normal for her is 19-20).
She was nesting under the couch today (dragging a blanket under there with her and digging), so I took her in to work for a progesterone test just to make sure all is well (she hasn’t done it since, but I am a nervous Nellie!), my breeder friend Kim thinks she is just being proactive since she is an experienced momma now. She is eating fine (she convinced Renee to share her lunch when we were at the clinic) and otherwise acting normal. We got the whelping box Kate made for us out and it’s all cleaned and set up.
Nina today (our lawn looks horrid since we’ve had almost no rain here), crappy cell phone pictures:
